Kelvin Quah is the Head Coach and founder of Iron Fitness Singapore. The home of CrossFit Iron Fitness a CrossFit gym for serious athletes and aspiring fitness enthusiasts.
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Movement Specialist and a Certified Rehab Trainer and holds many other speciality certifications in fitness training. In addition, he is?also a certified instructor in Krav Maga. These martial arts systems demonstrate his competency in empty-hand fighting and weapons-based offensive and defensive tactics.
He?draws from this extensive fitness and martial background in order to provide a comprehensive and integrated programme in human performance. And he is always?continuing to research and provide the most effective and up-to-date training methods in the strength and conditioning fields so as to teach and motivate his athletes.
His Training Philosophy
His?philosophy as a trainer/coach is to be able to help his athletes achieve a better quality of life by educating them and guiding them to break away from conventional thoughts of?fitness. He also?actively?encourages the gym to train closely like a family. One of the beauty of having a CrossFit community to train together is that everyone is there to support and encourage each other.
When asked what his?method of an ideal workout is, he replied…
?Keep everything simple and always remember the basics. We don?t have to complicate things. Keeping it simple does not mean that we cannot progress, but it is a key for us to progress efficiently without jeopardising results and the quality of our workout. In that way, our training will be more enjoyable and it keeps the flow going. In other words, consistency! My aim is to make it part of our lifestyle and not something that we do when we need to look good for a certain period of time or for a certain event because in that way, we are putting ourselves and our body at risk. Therefore train hard and smart.?
